Downloaded it to convert the Clickbank marketplace XML file to CSV. Could not get this software to do that, just get getting error messages about something in the data. Tried the various command line switches to try and overcome it but no joy.
This software was hopefully going to be a quick fix for this data conversion project, not to be, will go back to the original plan now and write my own convertor in Perl.

Hi, A7Soft,

I douwnloaded 2 of your utilitities in LineCommand (xml2csv and csv2xml). I hope that them will work, I hasn't time to test them (look pretty complicated, like DOS coms and progs), so, I think that at weekend, if I don't have to go to solve family problems, I will check them, so please let me understand how they work, before give you an answare.

Thank you, that you help people to try to solve their problems.

Best regards, Flaviu

Opinion

For some reason, I can't get it to work with a pipe (|) as the delimiter. Any insight?

Thanks,

This worked amazingly well. I needed a way to convert a vendor's product feeds into csv and A7Soft xml2csv worked perfectly. In the past i had to hire programmers to create custom apps for specific niche use. This was a time saver not having to wait for a custom app just for that vendor's data and a money saver too. Now if only i could turn that parsed data into a money maker I'll be a happy man :)

In order to produce quality IT translations I needed access to the Apple glossaries which are available as a .DMG file. I used xml2csv to convert this file into a readable file for the Windows platform. Worked like a charm.

The tool was quick and easy to use. However, I did have a problem changing the dividing character to a pipe as it seemed to only allow commas. Also, I had a header element and then a detail element and it only would place the header element on the first line, not on all lines.

Met my need to extract information from a XML document for non-technical audience - does what it says on the tin!

Worked well for me

The download was fast and the tool does "exactly what it says on the tin". It took a couple of minutes to understand the structure of the command line variables, but once I had them, the tool ran quickly and accurately. I used the -Q option to include quotes around values but then discovered that I had some values in the XML that had quotes in them, so that upset the structure of the output CSV. That was easily fixed by editing the input XML replacing double quotes with single quotes. Overall, I really like it.

Commas in text fields

Hi,

I am working with a program called DVDPro and the only method to export their file system is by XML.

As I need this data in MS Access I am trying to use your XML2CSV to covert the XML to CSV then import the CSV to an MDB database.

Everything works fine except that any fields containing a comma in the string, convert the text after the comma to another field.

Is there a switch in the command line to ignore commas in text strings?

I am using VB to shell the command as below:-

Shell "C:xml2csv.exe " & "C:DVDPro_Export.xml " & "c:xml2csv_Generated.csv " & """CollectionNumber,Title,Genre"""

This puts the second half of the following XML string into the Genre field.

Power, Passion and Murder

If there is no work around please let me know.

Kind regards

Eric S. Clarke

Great! why no linux version?

It's really simple , useful and elegant - Really great.

However - there is some mistake in the help file - the delimiter is -D= and not -S=

And - why no linux version? it could have been a great help
